This Association is composed of honorably discharged soldiers of the 23d Penna. Vols. And honorably discharged soldiers and sailors who were transferred from the 23d, and it is but fitting that a brief sketch of its origin should preface this Report.

During the days while battling for the Union, many ties of friendship were formed which time will not efface until the last survivor answers roll-call at the final review.
