This modern textbook features an up-to-date approach to the vital role of examining patients, which should be of use to medical students, their teachers and general practitioners. It is based on much clinical and teaching experience of physical diagnosis. The book describes how to interview and examine patients and illustrates important physical signs with diagrams and photographs. Particular emphasis is placed on those diseases and syndromes most commonly encountered in Western countries, but it also includes a section on tropical disease. Revised and updated, this second edition includes: new diagrams and colour photographs; use of second colour in text to highlight tables; a glossary of medical terms for new clinical students; and new chapters on physical signs in pregnancy; and on black-outs, collapses and shock.
