Sinopsis
Transoesophageal echocariography is a technique which provides a more precise means of examining cardiac stricture and function than traditional echocardiography. One of the advantages that it has over other techniques in the diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease, is that without being a truly invasive procedure the images of the heart produced are much clearer from within the oesophagus than through the abdominal wall, as in alternative procedures. Providing an introduction to transoesophageal echocardiography, this reference is designed for use in departments that are either already using or are considering using and interpreting results of this procedure.
