DHARAM GHAI was educated at Oxford and Yale and was previously Director of Research at the ILO's World Employment Programme, head of the secretariat for the World Employment Conference of 1976 and Director of the Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi. He is the author of many books and articles on a wide range of development problems such as employment, poverty, agrarian reform, social impact of the environment, social policy and globalization.
