This book sets the promotion of health on wider agendas. Starting at the local level and the interface between primary health care and the community, it explores potentials for participation and the building of health alliances. It then takes a searching look at how health policy is made and the scope for intersectoral working. The role of poverty and unemployment in determining health chances is explored. A range of ethical, professional, sociological, epidemiological and gender-related issues are addressed. (A course text for Open University Course K301)
