Excerpt from Classification: Class Z, Bibliography and Library Science; Adopted 1898, as in Force January, 1910
In Subject Bibliography only subjects represented by books on the shelves are, as a rule, included in the schedules and in the index. The class mark of a given work is occasionally added for illustration. References to personal bibliographies (z8001 - 9000) have generally been omitted in the scheme under subjects concerned; they are made in the shelf list: under English literature, for example, bibliographies of authors: Shakespeare, Tennyson, Thackeray, etc., are referred to.
To avoid repetition of form and other like divisions more or less uniformly used in National and Subject bibliography, tables of these divisions are printed at pages 34 and 46, and at the end; reference is made to these tables in the scheme wherever they are applicable.
