For the minuteness of my descriptions - the inferences I have taken the liberty to make - and the digressions I have indulged m by way of reflect1on - 'i hope to be excused by those whose supe rior learning does not need the first, - whose judgment would lead them to make better 'than the second, and whose mature reason renders the last unnecessary to them; - begging them toobserve that these Lectures were written for my pupils, and not originally designed for public inspection.
