In this book, Brent Evans and Carolyn Chipman-Evans offer a proven model for creating natural sanctuaries within a community. They begin with a personal account of founding the Cibolo Nature Center, then go on to describe a center's general purposes and activities. Their thumbnail sketches of nature centers around the country lead to a discussion of facility options and program possibilities. In the second half of the book, the Evanses give step-by-step instructions for creating and maintaining a nature center. This practical handbook will be an essential resource for nature center pioneers, as well as volunteers, board members, donors, government officials, or new members who want to educate themselves about the operation and potential of a nature center in their community.
