Sinopsis

Excerpt from Differential and Integral Calculus: An Introductory Course for Colleges and Engineering Schools

The function is also called the dependent variable, and the argu ment the independent variable.

For example, the volume of a sphere is a function of its radius, because it depends for its value upon the value of the radius. Also, the ordinate of a point on a curve is a function of its abscissa, the sine of an angle is a function of the angle, the velocity Of a falling body is a function of the time that it has been falling, etc., etc.

On the other hand, since the radius of a sphere depends for its value upon the volume, the radius may be regarded as the func tion and the volume as the argument. So, too, the abscissa of a point on a curve may be regarded as a function of the ordinate, an angle as a function of its Sine, etc., etc. And, in general, if y is a function of x, x is also a function of y.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces readers to differential calculus â" the study of functions, limits, rates of change, and related topics. It is an elementary textbook designed for college and engineering students, and is accessible to those with no prior knowledge of calculus. However, the book does assume that readers have a basic understanding of algebra and geometry. The author takes a practical approach, using many worked examples to illustrate the concepts and techniques of differential calculus. There are also plenty of exercises for students to practice their skills. This book is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn about differential calculus. It is clearly written, comprehensive, and provides a solid foundation for further study in mathematics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Nº de ref. del artículo: 9780282967697_0
