Excerpt from A Latin Reader for the Second Year: With Notes, Exercises for Translation Into Latin, Grammatical Appendix, and Vocabularies
This book is designed to provide a course of reading for those who wish a partial substitute for the traditional four books of Caesar's Gallic War. The selections cover consider ably more than the actual requirements for admission to college, thus making it possible to vary the work from year to year and to do additional sight reading. The selections from Caesar's Civil War have been especially arranged for sight reading and the Story of the Argonauts will be found to be well adapted either to that purpose or as an introduction to Caesar, since its vocabulary is largely based upon that of the Gallic War.
