Books professing to convey instruction on various branches of art have become so nume rous, that authors at the present time usually think it necessary to apologize for adding to the number. In introducing the new manual OF perspective to public notice apology would be superfluous, as it is an endeavour to render a mest useful branch of knowledge intelligible to all persons of ordinary capacity and confined education, to whom it has hitherto been a sealed book, from the prolix, pedantic observa tions, obsolete technicalities, and complicated diagrams, used by most authors that have written upon the Art of Perspective. Even modern professors pre-sup'pose' that those who require instruction in the art have attained.
