Excerpt from Notes and Queries, Vol. 10: A Medium of Intercommunication for Literary Men, General Readers, Etc.; July-December 1872
I do not believe that there is another world; but I am much dis sed to believe - and, in fact, cannot pre vent myself rem believing - that, after what is generally called death, there is life in this world. I believe that, in that rettin momentarily corrupting piece of defunct humanity, w iich we desi eats a cer se, there is still left the power of thought, an even of eeling, although the powers of motion and expression have alike departed from it; and I believe, moreover, that, as long as that mass remains together, whether it be in the totality of the flesh, or the completeness of the skeleton, that the mental sentient man is there; and hence it is that I do believe the Pagan Romans acted like sensible philo sophers, when they directed their bodies should be burned, instead of consigning them to ages of misery and abhor rence in filthy graves. - Vol. I. P. 185.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. In this analysis of the death warrant of King Charles I, the author reveals the discrepancies in the document. This raises doubts about what has previously been accepted as an authentic account of the events of the King's trial, including the True Copy of the Journal of the High Court of Justice for the Trial of King Charles I. Charles' execution in 1649 saw the end of nearly a thousand years of monarchy in England. This book's fascinating insights illuminate the events, forever shaping a nation.
