Excerpt from Notes on Naval Progress: July, 1901
The various powers continue active in building up their fleets, and the budgets show that there will be no relaxation in the coming year. A large number of vessels have been launched, and many have had their trials.
The list of ships laid down contains all ships that are known to have been laid down, but there are many others that have been authorized and ordered and probably laid down, though information to that effect has not yet reached this Office.
