Sinopsis

A comprehensive reference in pathology that blends morbid anatomy, histology, and clinical insight for everyday study and use.

This volume surveys the practice and science of pathology with a broad view. It links traditional morbid anatomy, microscopic study, and clinical observation, showing how laboratory findings relate to patient disease. The book is organized into technical sections on examination, tissue preparation, and microscopy, and it also covers practical bacteriology and systematic bacteriology for lab work and diagnosis. The author emphasizes a living science that can guide daily work in the lab and the clinic.

  • Clear guidance on preparing and examining tissues, including staining and mounting techniques.

  • Introductory and advanced material on practical bacteriology and laboratory methods.

  • A map of general pathological processes and the diseases of individual organs and tissues.

  • A framework that connects theory to clinical and laboratory practice for real-world use.

Ideal for students, researchers, and practitioners who want a sturdy, laboratory-forward foundation in pathology.

Reseña del editor

Excerpt from A Text-Book of Pathology, Vol. 1: Systematic and Practical

Aberdeen University, it unavoidably fell into abeyance for a con siderable period. On resuming it, I felt that the system at first adopted was calculated to give too narrow a view of what has now become a very wide and important science; and I accordingly destroyed the early manuscript and remodelled the whole ab initio.

It will, I think, be granted that the Pathology of to-day is not delimitable merely as a matter of pure morbid anatomy, pathological histology, pathological physiology, pathological chemistry, or clinical medicine; but that these are simply the members of a great body, and that they are indissolubly band together. All pathologists of renown, at home and sinned, hare served a lengthy apprenticeship in morbid anatomy prior to their becoming exponents of the science of disease. And, for that matter, the continuance in after life of daily observatim in the post-mortem theatre is as essential to the pathologist as digital study is to the physician, seeing that it is here that subjects {or further inquiry suggest themselves.
