Abrasion is the violent removal of the outer skin in any part of the body, such as may be caused by a fall or a blow. The best remedy is court plaster or goldbeater's skin, or linen bandages spread with spermaceti ointment. Common adhesive plaster should never be applied in these cases, because it irri tates instead of healing.
