I had found the matical works, previously published, defective in v respects, especially in regard to Syntax; and orig purposed to publish only a Treatise on Tamil cor tion; but having been advised by various frica whom I submitted the manuscript, to add the parts of Grammar and thus form at once a con work, I yielded to their advice.
