"This volume is third in a series on systematic geomorphology. Basically, it is a monograph on glacial and periglacial processes. Although the author emphasizes landforms and glacial processes native to his region (Tasmania, New Zealand, and Australia), Davies does not neglect key international localities where Pleistocene glacial and periglacial conditions are well recognized. The text is designed as an in-depth study for higher education, yet it is written so that advanced high school earth science students or laymen interested in understanding how ice sculptures and rearranges the surface of the earth may do so without being overwhelmed by unclear terminology."-- "The Science Teacher" "Clear, fluent, well diversified with examples and (rare quality!) eminently readable.
