Excerpt from Report on Manuscripts in the Welsh Language, Vol. 2: Part II, Plas Lian Stephan; Free Library, Cardiff
The Cornish Mystery Plays are very precious as they embody practically the last utterances of a dialect in which it is claimed that Arthur, the King of Chivalry, taught his knights the high ideals of the Table Round, and Tristan won the fairest daughter of the British isles. To a section of our race this Cornish speech, for a millenium and more, expressed all the passions which move the mind and heart of man, but heedless of its storied past, it sinks into the eternal silence with murmurs of the supreme Passion upon its lips.
