Excerpt from Introductory Lecture: Delivered in the Fourth Street Concert Hall, on Wednesday Evening, November 5th, 1851
We know, therefore, that in order to perpetuate any delu sion it is only necessary that we select the proper impressible subjects, keep them in a passive state, stamp the delusion on their minds and keep it there until it has taken firm hold, and become a second nature. Then you will see your wretched dupe exulting in the posession of truth, and resenting with indignation the idea, that he has been made an instrument by designing men.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the history of medicine, tracing its evolution from Hippocrates through the rise of Eclecticism and contrasting it with the established practices of the time. The author argues that Eclecticism, with its emphasis on a holistic approach, represents a return to the principles of ancient medicine, while the current practices of the dominant medical establishment are based on the questionable legacy of Paracelsus, a notorious quack of the 16th century. The book critiques the excessive reliance on chemical remedies and the dogmatic adherence to authority that have plagued the medical profession for centuries, advocating instead for a liberal and open-minded approach to healing. Through a comprehensive examination of the history and principles of Eclecticism, this book sheds light on the ongoing debate between traditional and alternative medicine, offering valuable insights for anyone seeking a more informed understanding of healthcare.
