Nous n'aurions pu refaire, soixante-dix ans après la mort de Crabbe, l'histoire de son existence, si nous n'avions été aidé dans nos recherches par le concours sympathique de nombreuses personnes. En Angleterre, M. F. J. F urnivall, M. Henry Bradley, M. Le chanoine H. Thompson, et M. Ch. Ganz, nous ont fourni d'utiles renseignements; M. Le duc de Rutland nous a ouvert sa bibliothèque de Belvoir Castle; M. Dowden et M. Aldis Wright nous ont communiqué, avec une extrême obligeance, l'un, d'intéressants poèmes inédits, l'autre, des notes manuscrites de Fitzgerald singulièrement sugges lives. Nous avons pu consulter chez M. H. Buxton Forman une lettre d'autant plus importante qu'elle a trait à une période où les documents sont rares. M.
