Il impute à l'essence de notre nature ce qui n'appartient qu'à certains hommes il dit éloquemment des injures au genre humain. J'ose prendre. Le parti de l'humanité contre ce misanthrope sublime'.
Pascal, dit M. Cousin, respire le scepticisme; il en est plein; il en proclame le principe, il en accepte toutes les conséquences, et il le pousse d'abord à son dernier terme, qui est le mépris avoué et presque la haine de la philo sophie. Oui, Pascal est nu ennemi déclaré de la philo Sophie 2.

D'ancuns se sont bornés à déplacer çà et là quelques morceaux, à édifier sur quelques fragments isolés des hypothèses chimériques, à demander aux Pensées des arguments pour une thèse, en laissant de côté ce qui la démentait.
