While we lay great stress upon the necessity of 'imparting to our congregations, solid instruction out of God's word, we by no means detract from the importance of pungent ex hortation and reproof. On the contrary, we believe that the efficiency of the latter depends, under God, upon a due re gard to the former. Instruction is the basis of persuasive exhortation.
