Excerpt from The Field at Home, Vol. 11: January, 1936-October, 1936
Another form of investment in the life of the Church is the giving of alms to Her missionary endeavours. Money indeed is the reward of labor. Work - be it the work of the brain or the work of our muscles - commands a salary. This money is a compensation of that part' of life we have given to an assigned task. In it are embodied, as it were, our efforts, our energies, our time. Do we not say that time is money?
The gift, therefore, of some of that money to the missionary works of the Church is in real ity a gift of a part of our time, of our life, to the growth of Her life upon earth. In this world' of ours to translate ideas into action we need money.
