Excerpt from Livius Et Polybius Scipionis Rerum Scriptores: Dissertatio
Im Folgenden soll versucht werden die Quellen von Livius lib. II, 1 - Il, 33, 3 und Dion sios lib. V, 1 - VI, 90 zu bestimmen. Dass ein solcher ersuch auch nach Nitzsch's geistvollem Werke über die Römische Annalistik nicht ungerechtfertigt ist, muss die Arbeit selbst zeigen'; den Verfasser haben jedenfalls die in jenefn Buche vor getragenen Untersuchungen nur zum kleineren Theile überzeugt. Es scheint unumganglich, die Resultate derselben hier kurz zu resümiren und wenigstens die Hauptgründe, durch welche Nitzsch sie stützt, zu widerlegen in der dann folgenden Spezialuntersuchung glaubte der Verfasser sich der Polemik enthalten zu sollen.

Itaque non erit huius loci, Livii libroe XXI - XXII cum Polybii III comparare; permulti enim homines docti de hie libris scripserunt alii aliam sententiam professi plerique autem F Lachmannum eecuti, qui in commentatione: de fontibus historiamm Titi Livii.
