Excerpt from Reproduction, Growth and Development in Two Species of Cloud Forest Peromyscus From Southern Mexico
An examination of data for 16 members of the genus indicates that litter weight, expressed as a percentage of adult weight, shows a strong negative correlation with adult body weight. This suggests a decrease in reproductive effort with increase in body size, which may secondarily be related to habitat stability.

Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates reproduction and growth in two species of cloud forest Peromyscus from the humid Sierra de Juarez mountains in southern Mexico. The author's research adds to the study of the genus, which includes the widely distributed species Peromyscus, as well as two very large montane forms, Peromyscus megalops and P. thomasi. The author's work examines whether similar patterns in growth and reproduction exist between the two species, and how they compare to the rest of the genus. The author also gives insight into the life history of cloud forest rodent communities, and the general ecology of the region. The book will be of great value to students and researchers studying the cloud forest and its inhabitants, and is also of more general interest to those concerned with mammalian biology, ecology, and evolution.
