Sinopsis

On a gale-swept voyage and through misty Moorland days, a woman’s heart fights to stay whole. A daughter of Heth follows Coquette, a spirited young woman, as she moves between a fragile family circle and a world of stirring loyalties. From a sea voyage that unsettles a grieving father to tense gatherings with old friends and rivals, the book unfolds with mood, restraint, and a quietly growing danger to her health.

- A voyage home turns tense as a fever and memory haunt a household in transition.
- A wary alliance between cousins, a devoted husband, and a nobleman tests trust and desire.
- Vivid Scottish settings—from yacht decks to the moor—frame intimate moments and restless questions.
- Subtle social intrigue, unspoken anxieties, and a looming illness create suspense without sensationalism.

Ideal for readers who enjoy historical romance fused with psychological depth, atmosphere, and ethical tension.

The skipper received his orders. Fortunately, although the day was lowering and dismal, the wind did not rise, and they had a comparatively smooth passage southwards. The Minister remained on deck, anxious and disturbed; Lady Drum was in attend ance on Coquette.

The Minister grew impatient and a trifle alarmed when no news came from his niece. At last he went below and knocked at the door of her state room. Lady Drum came out, shut the door behind her, and went with the Minister along into the saloon.
