I also wish to thank every "Daughter" who sent a sweet greeting to your President General at Christmas, for which I feel deeply grateful, as it brings me so near each individual member at that season. "I have continued the usual routine of hard work and have had several interviews with our architect, and expert engineer. The Hall progressed to the utmost until the holidays commenced; then there seemed to be a lack of energy in the workmen. (I report this officially,--though it is not mentioned in a discouraging way,--and to show you that vigilance is the price of that Hall.) I shall report to Norcross that we are watching them. It has not been all smooth sailing the last few weeks. However, I have every reason to believe it will all go on right and properly. "I bring you here a Scrap Book, as a valuable contribution to the Library,--through Mrs. Boynton,--and to stimulate your interest in the completion of the Hall. (This book was presented to the Board for inspection, and acknowledged with thanks by Mrs. Boynton, the Librarian General.) "I felt sure that I would have the support of every member of the Board in issuing the call, which I did, through the Associated Press for the National Society D. A. R. to assist the Italian sufferers in the recent earthquakes in Southern Italy, by contribution to the Red Cross. It is not necessary to dilate on that terrible disaster. The call was not sent individually to the "Daughters," but through the press, in order to save time and expense. I received the utmost courtesy from the Press in the matter, and I would like to report that...
