Sinopsis

The authors' goal was to create an engaging, readable survey of theory and practice, broad enough to cover the field sufficiently but without going to encyclopedic extremes. As a result, the book includes major sections on theories, principles, and techniques as well as applications to specific problems and disorders. The theories chapters cover traditional behavior modification, classical conditioning, and operant learning, as well as contemporary social learning theory and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Included also are chapters on research methods in behavior therapy and on behavioral assessment. The applications chapters, Section 3, cover a wide range of problems and disorders in residential and community settings. In each of these chapters, the authors pay special attention to assessment and treatment of the disorders.
