Cytoskeletal research has undergone rapid progress in recent years and is currently an area of intense research activity. "The Cytoskeleton - A Practical Approach" discusses methods and advice for investigating the cytoskeletal elements of eukaryotic cells. It focuses on the dynamic and functional aspects of the three major systems of the cytoskeleton - microfilaments, intermediate filaments and microtobules, and their interactions with their associate proteins. Detailed experimental protocols are given throughout, and emphasis is placed on recent advances in areas such as and microchemistry of proteins. This volume is aimed at both experienced and novice researchers, who wish to apply the technologies available for the study of these important components of eukaryotic cell structure.
