Officially approved by the standards and effectiveness unit at the DfEE and supporting the National Literacy Strategy training materials, the activity resource banks provide practical teaching exemplars linked to a selection of specific objectives in the National Literacy Framework. Fully photocopiable ideas for the teacher to exploit in whole class, group and plenary sessions act as models that teachers can adapt. The activities should be useful for all teachers regardless of whether they are incorporating the Literacy Hour in schools. Module 2 includes activities which give ideas for learning a basic sight vocabulary and building word banks; cover the termly objectives for Word Level work for KS1-2 (P1-7); have practical games, word wheels, rhymes to be read aloud, etc.; and contains useful lists of spelling patterns and rhyming words.
