Sinopsis
This revised edition incorporates all significant changes that have occurred since 1988 in the law and practice of British central government. The consequences of Margaret Thatcher's removal from Downing Street is described. For the first time, information about Cabinet committees and the code of ministerial conduct is analyzed. The memoirs and diaries of former Cabinet Ministers are evaluated and referred to whenever they throw light on government practices. A new chapter on the official Opposition has been added to reflect the importance of a potential government and its part in the daily workings of Parliament. Recent changes in parliamentary practice are noted, and major reforms of the qualifications of judges are described.
