Flowering plants are immensely varied. Their leaves, flowers, roots and seeds can exhibit so great a range of form as to make identification very difficult. Describing them accurately presents ever greater difficulties. Yet this very variation can be a source of endless fascination for the plant lover and the student of botany alike. This book presents the innumerable curiosities of the growing and mature and flowering plant, examining the details of plant form and how they can be modified. It presents and explains much of the terminology that is used in more advanced botanical texts or in reference books, but is rarely explained for the novice.
