The main purpose of this book is to encourage the proper implementation of the techniques which have contributed to Japan's industrial success. We try to identify some main themes underlying the new quality improvement revolution. We shall examine how Taguchi's philosophy fits in both with the management principles of Dr. W. E. Deming and with some prevailing philosophies and methodologies in Western industry. This is to encourage proper implementation of the techniques that have contributed greatly to Japan's industrial success.
