This collection of illustrated text extracts has been selected especially to introduce junior age children to a wide range of text types. "Texts for Sharing: Big Book 2" is appropriate for 8-9 year olds and includes playscripts, poetry in a range of forms and on common themes, newspaper reports and articles, stories that raise issues, and persuasive writing. Teaching ideas by literacy consultant Julie Carr are included, which offer ideas for using the texts in shared and group sessions, and as stimuli for children's own writing.
