Cloth, oblong 4to, gilt cover device, 23 x 27 cm, 234 pp, many ills. From the blurb: "The illustrated limericks and other nonsense oi Edward Lear have delighted generations of children and the many lucky adults who retain their childhood pleasures. Here are published, in careful facsimile and for the first time, 110 original drawings by Lear, some of them for the illustrations of his Book of Nonsense (1846) and others of subjects never previously printed. In these spirited and spontaneous sketches we are able to get closer to the origin of Lear's entertainment for young people than ever before. The facsimiles and texts are accompanied by an introduction and profound notes, whose humor is derived from notes of similar gravity by Norman Douglas in his prized volume, Some Limericks. A full and not wholly serious index is also provided." Very Good in a dustwrapper which is torn around the foot of the spine-panel and slightly marked. Nº de ref. del artículo: ABE-62805
