Sinopsis
This volume discusses, in a manner that will be readily understood by non-specialists, the nature of an early human embryo, what is meant by experimentation on it and what reasons and justifications there might be for such work. The realities of genetic engineering, said to offer the promise of ending hereditary disease, the problems of infertile couples and legal complications arising from the procedures followed are also examined. The book attempts to cover a variety of questions that concern and puzzle the public, such as how embryos develop, why some men and women are infertile, how test-tube babies are created and whether it is genetically possible to make human clones.
