This communications textbook has a central theme - that co-operation in small groups is usually superior to competition. It uses the communication competence model to guide discussion of small group communication concepts and processes, and retains systems theory as the key theoretical component. There is a strong emphasis on informatio on electronic technology (the Internet, electronic mettings, information overload) and this is integrated throughout the text. In addition, there is expanded coverage of gender, culture and ethics.
