Reviewery collects in one volume for the first time fifty pieces by a writer whom many regard as our greatest literary critic. Ricks writes compellingly about novelists (Waugh, Joyce and Henry James), about poets (Larkin and Eliot), about filmmakers(Kubrick and Coppola), sociologists (Goffman and McLuhan), photographers (Capa) and musicmakers. The result is a fascinating account of the cultural landscape of the twentieth century.
