The greatest epic poem in the English language, Paradise Lost tells of the revolt of Satan, the foundation of hell and the fall of man. The poem was the culmination of years of creative thought and preparation for Milton and since its publication, it has inspired a wealth critical and literary reaction, imitation and adaptation. It remains one of the most vivid and majestic literary responses to the Bible. This edition also reproduces 'On Paradise Lost', Andrew Marvell's poetic tribute to Milton which prefaced the second edition of the poem.

John Milton (1608-74) began his literary career writing pamphlets, defending the Presbyterian cause, divorce and lastly the English Revolution. His great poems were written after his political defeat. These include Paradise Lost (1667), Paradise Regained and Samson Agonistes (1671).
John Leonard is Professor of English at the University of Western Ontario. He has published widely on Milton and his book Naming in Paradise (Clarendon Press, 1990) was co-winner of a Milton Society Award.

Condición: Acceptable. LIGHTNING FAST SHIPPING! A heavily used, but still working copy. Coffee stain and wrinkling to the edge of the pages when a tired undergrad fell asleep and knocked their cup over on their books. The binding and pages of the book have been reinforced with tape, has tape and stickers on the cover, as well as lots of notes (some of the answers in the learning activities may be filled in) on the pages. Definitely not pretty, but it's a working copy at a great price that ships fast. ~ Book does NOT contain an access code or CD/DVD. Nº de ref. del artículo: #155C-0136
