Sinopsis

Based on unique data on rape trials, victims' accounts and police records, Sue Lees's work is a searing indictment of the popular, legal and media treatment of rape. Presenting evidence that misogyny can still be found in the legal system, she argues the case for radical reforms across the board that will greatly boost the rights of the defendants in rape cases. Attention also focuses on the general public, as Lees analyses the social origins of a rapist's motivation. The result is a powerfuland disturbing book that cannot be ignored.
