The field of positive behavioral intervention and support is expanding rapidly, and the revised and reorganized second edition of Positive Behavioral Supports for the Classroom reflects the newest research and most exciting advances. With a new emphasis on the three-tier response-to-intervention model, the text continues to deliver readers an array of research-based strategies and techniques for strengthening appropriate behaviors and reducing challenging ones. Tackling both the "hows" and "whys" of behavioral management in the classroom, this text combines theory and practice in a way that helps students understand and apply effective strategies for behavioral support, assessment, and intervention in both school-wide settings and on an individual basis.
Brenda K. Scheuermann is a professor of special education at Texas State University, where she coordinates graduate programs in Behavioral Disorders/Positive Behavioral Supports. She has co-authored three texts: Positive Behavioral Supports for the Classroom, 2e (2012, Pearson), Autism: Teaching Does Make a Difference (2002, Cengage Learning), and Educating Students with Autism: The Quick-Start Manual (2008, Pro-Ed, Inc.). She is a nationally known presenter in the areas of classroom management, teaching students with behavioral disorders, and schoolwide positive behavioral supports. In addition, she consults frequently with schools, alternative disciplinary settings, and juvenile justice programs to improve programs for children and youth with challenging behaviors. She is also the founder/developer of The Teaching Zone (www.theteachingzone), an innovative, on-line teacher training website. Judy A. Hall is retired from public school education after almost 30 years of service. During this time she worked as a Teacher, a Behavior Specialist, and a Teacher Trainer with students ranging in age from 5 to 19 years. Because of her love for educational experiences, she continues to work as a Learning Specialist at Saint Dominic Savio Catholic High School.
