This long-awaited revision of this highly popular text on advanced
laboratory experiments has been thoroughly updated to include modern
techniques and experiments of current interest. Important additions include
two chapters on lasers, an entirely new chapter on electronics as well as
new experiments on the electronic properties of solids.
Data acquisition by computer and data analysis tools are widely used. New
experiments on chaos, Berry's phase, saturation absorption
spectroscopy and muon decay have been added. As in the previous edition the
emphasis is on results obtained by students.
This text is addressed to juniors and seniors enrolled in an advanced
laboratory course in physics. In the past it has also proven to be a
valuable reference for instructors, graduate students and professional
physicists.
