Database research and applications provide the backbone of systems development and computer education in many academic and industrial programmes. Recent developments in the Expert Database Systems fields have shown that relational database technology must be extended to embrace work in other field of computing if ever more sophisticated and efficient systems are to be built. The aim of this book is to show how advances in the fields of expert systems, logic programming, object-oriented programming, database hardware and theory are being used to create expert database systems. It shows how diverse methodologies drawn from AI, VLSI and various programming paradigms are being used to create Expert Data Systems.
