Since its first volume in 1960, "Advances in Computing" has set out to present detailed coverage of innovations in hardware, software, computer theory, design and applications. It has also provided contributors with a medium in which they can examine their subjects in greater depth and breadth than that allowed by standard journal articles. Volume 37 contains detailed review articles on automatics programming; digital signal processing; neural networks for pattern recognition; computational heuristics; high-level synthesis of digital circuits; issues in dataflow computing; and sociological history of the neural network controversy.
