This publication examines and summarizes the real effects, impacts and benefits (economic, social and environmental), of different types of development. Growth and restructuring of retail development in the past decade has been a significant economic event. Alongside the evolving character of retailing has been a changing role for town centres. This survey will prove valuable in the formulation of new planning policy on major retail development and will complement existing policy.
