Based on presentations given at the British Council International Seminar, held in June 1995, this work provides an overview for professionals of current issues in human resources development strategies, focusing on the topics of gender, women's training and development. With contributions from academia, industry, human resource management and non-governmental orgnizations, the topics covered include: the position of women in management, access to information, work and training, and the arenas of decision-making, politics and the law. Despite contrasting standpoints, the contributors are united in their desire to make progress in equalizing opportunities for women and men, as a fundamental aspect of human rights, and a vital component of social and economic growth.
