The purpose of the guide is to help organisations gain full value from the PRINCE2 method by providing practical advice on using its Maturity Model (P2MM). The guide shows how P2MM can be used: to help implement PRINCE2 for first time users; re-invigorate existing implementations; help organisations improve their project performance; as a benchmark to assess organisational capability and plan improvements; as a means of gaining external recognition for organisational capability; and as part of a wider goal to improve Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management performance.

=== Andy Murray is a management consultant specialising in Bids, Projects and Programmes through the practical application of structured methods. He has over 15 years of varied experience across public and private sectors internationally and has implemented PRINCE2(tm) in numerous organisations across 13 countries (Europe, Asia, North America, Africa, Middle East). Andy previously sat on the Executive Committee for Best Practice User Group(tm) (BPUG(tm)) which represents users on behalf of OGC for their best practice trilogy of PRINCE2(tm), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) and Management of Risk (M_o_R®). Andy often presents at project management conferences on the application of PRINCE2 and its integration with other methods. A particular area of focus for Andy is Programme and Project Assurance. As a Chartered Director, Andy's has incorporated IOD best practices to close the gap between Programme Assurance and Corporate Governance. Andy's expertise in the practical application of PRINCE2 has resulted in him being appointed as the Lead Author for the PRINCE2 refresh, due out in Q1 2009. ===

Mike Ward is a consultant with knowledge and experience of a wide variety of best practice methods for the management of projects and programmes. His experience as a CMMi assessor, Six Sigma practitioner, Risk Management consultant and PMO consultant has been used to assist clients undergo business change. Mike has worked mainly in the IT Industry for over 25 years holding positions in programme management, project management and R & D, specializing in the areas of professional services, project management methods and computer architectures. He has considerable experience in managing enterprise scale international collaborative programmes both in Europe and the USA. Mike has written two books which have been published by TSO on maturity modelling and risk management. ===
