Mechanics of Materials: An Introduction to the Mechanics of Elastic and Plastic Deformation of Solids and Structural Components, Second Edition, Volume 2 covers the typical components of mechanics of materials, including beams, shafts, cylinders, struts, diaphragms, and springs. The study of mechanics of materials is the study of the behavior of solid bodies under load. This book is divided into 11 chapters and begins with the principles of unsymmetrical bending, struts, and the strains beyond the elastic limit. The succeeding chapters deal with other components of materials mechanics, such as rings, discs, cylinders, and torsion of non-circular and thin-walled sections. These topics are followed by reviews of experimental stress analysis, circular plates, diaphragms, and an introduction to the advanced elasticity theory. The final chapters examine contact and residual stresses, stress concentrations, fatigue, creep, and fracture. This book will prove useful to students with degree course in mechanics of materials.
