The CD-ROM complements the text and is interactive, with many exercises and navigational tips. The authors explore the breadth of computer science as a discipline (in six chapters) and analyze various problem-solving approaches in a simple graphical programming environment (in three chapters), which provides descriptions of common errors and how to eradicate them. Six chapters are devoted to programming in C++. Common bugs sections are featured at the end of each C++ chapter. Social, ethical and professional issues are covered throughout.
