While "coming of age" refers to the turning point at which we are given greater responsibilities and expected to take charge of our lives, "true coming of age" is a transforming process that helps us live a genuine life, the most meaningful way to live. True coming of age is characterized by a readiness to navigate the struggles we all come to know--whether as life-altering crises or ever-returning problems of discontent. To overcome them, we must manifest our most inner core, our true self.
Our true self guides our heart and our soul in a dynamic relationship that affects all aspects of our life. This dynamic allows us to discover our purpose. By discovering our purpose, we can and we will achieve wholeness, centeredness, and clarity. From everyday men and women to notable Americans, including Tom Brokaw, Ron Howard, Tom Cruise, Sandra Day O'Connor and more, Dr. Chirban has helped others learn what it takes to create a genuine life, through periods of both hardship and success. The successful life secrets of famous people are featured throughout the book.
True Coming of Age is comprised of four parts. Each part explores one of the four major steps that are integral aspects of true coming of age:
By entering within and discovering, accepting, and taking responsibility for our true self, we ignite the process of our unique emotional and spiritual evolution and experience our own true coming of age.
